Faces In Time

We think back in time to days we knew
the faces of our circle, our family, our crew
And as years go by like they always do
Some of those faces may bid us adieu

Our lives can not stay stuck in one stage
but like every good book we must turn the page
we grow old and our advice becomes sage
and our own faces we see, have somewhat aged

We can fight with our might to keep things the same
we can resist and insist that the rules be changed
But in this effort we will lose this game
Our candles will dim and lose their flame

The old faces will be gone, but new ones come through
While we miss the old, we must embrace the new
Our hearts must be big enough to love anew
For one day these faces will  again be few...

The faces we've loved throughout our lives
May often change and leave us behind
And in those moments when we despair
remember the new faces that will sit in their chair..

Love them, cherish them, while they're still there...

  1. So before. It reminds of of a poem and woman in her Crone stage would write. Very good.

    1. Well I was engaged in a conversation with my mother, and she always seems reluctant to embrace the fact that even though we've lost family members, we have gained family members too, and this is the natural way of things with a family and that we have to accept and be happy that the faces in our family will change, but that doesn't mean we can't love them still..you know?
